Edwin believes that we should not treat our body like a machine with parts that are taken for granted, easily discarded or replaced. When it comes to the management of health, we should see the being as a whole, and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts! We shall respect and assist the healing power within to bring the body back to its homeostatic balance. In other words, Edwin believes in using natural means, like changing the diet, eating habit, foods and lifestyle to assist the body to achieve optimal health. External and invasive means should be kept to the minimum. Edwin advocates periodical fasting and detoxification as a way to keep the toxicity in our body at a manageable level. In fact, Edwin fasts regularly, about 7 days every six months to give the body a break for self cleansing and renewal. He coaches clients to fast for as long as 42 days to strengthen the body’s immune system and resistance to chronic and serious conditions. During the journey of writing his book on health, and having toured Taiwan for the launching of his book there in 2003, he discovered that even with the best food and good eating and sleeping habits, the body still needs good exercises to stay healthy. This underlay his initial impulse to be a Yoga instructor. Later, he also discovered that the root cause of many diseases (especially the chronic and serious ones) is not in the physical body, but rather, could be in the much more complex and deeper mental dimension. His yoga practice originates from Ananda Marga, a global spiritual and social service organization that has presence in more than 200 countries. The teaching is called Rajadhiraja yoga. Rajadhiraja yoga is a more extensive and comprehensive form of Ashtanga Yoga. It is an all-round systematic and scientific process for the development of the body, of the mind, and of the soul, leading to the total experience of the Infinite – what in yoga is called "self-realization." Edwin employs the techniques (breath control, stretching, postures, deep relaxation, emotional release, meditation) from this yoga, together with dietary changes, supplementation of certain nutrients to assist the body to achieve its balance soonest. His typical consultation:
He operates an organic chain store Nutrimax Organic, to showcase his belief in whole and organic food, herbs and neutriceutical supplements as a platform to fulfil his lifelong mission of helping people to stay healthy longer and bring them to realize that man and the universe are one. |
