I am allergic to aloe vera. Can I use products which contain Ambrotose® complex?
Our Ambrotose® complex does contain freeze-dried aloe vera gel extract. However, individuals who are allergic to aloe are usually allergic to the ingredients in the yellow sap of the plant. Our products do not contain this yellow sap. Our manufacturing process is for the extraction and stabilization of the polysaccharide molecule found within fresh, then freeze-dried, aloe. Many people who are allergic to aloe are able to ingest our product; however, this is never an issue we force with a person who has fears of ingesting aloe.

Is it okay to mix Ambrotose® powder in hot liquids, such as soups or teas?
Yes, Ambrotose® powder can be mixed in hot liquids, such as soups or teas. The monosaccharides will NOT be denatured or suffer a loss in function.

I am allergic to shellfish. Can I use the Ambrotose® powder?
Most people who are allergic to seafood are allergic to the iodized protein in seafood. This is not in the glucosamine HCl in Ambrotose powder. Once the seafood source is processed to the molecular weight of glucosamine HCl, it is no longer considered seafood, it is glucosamine HCl. Glucosamine HCl is a pure substance that is also made by the human body. Mannatech Incorporated’s Product Safety Monitoring Program has been in effect for over seven years. Many consumers who report being very allergic to shellfish have reported no difficulty with using Ambrotose powder. For those who do not desire to use the Ambrotose powder because of its seafood-source glucosamine HCl, Ambrotose capsules contain no glucosamine HCl, and New & Improved Advanced Ambrotose™ powder contains only vegetable-source glucosamine HCl.

When I measure out Ambrotose® Powder using a measuring spoon, I often get a different number of spoonfuls from one jar to the next. Why is this?
The filling of the jars is measured by weight, not volume. Because this is a natural product, there is sometimes a variation of density in the ingredients. This may cause a change in number of doses obtained using a teaspoon (a volume measurement) but does not change the number of doses by weight.

When the product is dispensed into the containers the weight is used to determine the fill. Each jar is individually weighed during the time of dispensing and a sampling is taken and reweighed prior to distribution of the batch. We are confident that the weight is correct.

Does the Advanced Ambrotose™ powder contain iodine due to the inclusion of undaria?
Yes, Advanced Ambrotose™ powder contains a small amount (3.61 mcg) of iodine per serving. The US RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance) for iodine is 150 mcg per day.

What is a glyconutrient?
Glyconutrients are plant saccharides that provide support for the immune system. Saccharides are necessary for the body’s creation of glycoforms, the structures on cell surfaces used to “talk” to other cells.

What is cellular communication, and why is it important to support?
Recent scientific research has shown that eight simple sugars (monosaccharides)—most of which are no longer found in abundance in the standard modern diet—form virtual “words of life” at the cellular level. These sugars combine with proteins and fats to create glycoforms that coat the surface of nearly every cell in the body. Glycoforms function as cellular recognition molecules that communicate the messages a body needs to function in health. These messages directly affect your natural defense (immune) and endocrine (glandular) systems, in addition to supporting proper organ and system function.

Why did Mannatech introduce Advanced Ambrotose™?
Mannatech had many reasons for introducing Advanced Ambrotose™. One reason was our exponential growth in recent years. This growth created the need for a uniform formula of our flagship product. Such a formula could expedite the entrance into new markets and reduce costs to our customers. Another reason for introducing Advanced Ambrotose™ was to have an international version of Ambrotose® complex that would facilitate research in virtually every country of operation. Mannatech also included a new source of fucose, a brown algae called Undaria pinnatifida, which is a concentrated source of fucoidans. This change made the profile of sugars in Advanced Ambrotose™ even more concentrated than for original Ambrotose® complex. Finally, we wanted a 100-percent plant-based formula without fillers.

Why did Mannatech change the formulation of Advanced Ambrotose™?
Our talented Research and Development (R&D) team continues to study and research potential new sources of raw materials that can provide the best products possible to our consumers. Mannatech’s study of glyconutrients is at the cutting edge of science. New technologies became available in 2005 that provided the insight needed to formulate an even more balanced profile of sugars than in the current Advanced Ambrotose™. During 2005, most consumers of Advanced Ambrotose™ reported product experiences superior to those provided by original Ambrotose® complex. However, some long-time users of original Ambrotose® complex who had switched to the Advanced Ambrotose™ formula reported that they actually preferred original Ambrotose® complex. Those reports initiated the use of a new technology that R&D now possesses. This capability allowed R&D to determine what sugars in the formula to rebalance. Mannatech is very sensitive to the needs of our consumer base, and as technology changes and other raw material sources become commercially available, we will continually look at these formulations and make improvements where they are prudent and are supported by science.

Which ingredients changed in New and Improved Advanced Ambrotose™?
New and Improved Advanced Ambrotose™ now includes arabinogalactan, which was in original Ambrotose® complex powder but not included in the original Advanced Ambrotose™ because of international regulatory issues. Also, new and improved Advanced Ambrotose™ contains gluten-free rice starch in place of oat fiber, plus a new, more purified form of Undaria pinnatifida that offers a higher concentration of fucose than in the initial formulation of Advanced Ambrotose™.

Which sugars have been rebalanced in new and improved Advanced Ambrotose™?
The glyconutrients fucose, mannose and galactose were all rebalanced in the new formulation. Independent testing was conducted on a weight to weight basis comparing Classic Ambrotose and Advanced Ambrotose. The new formulation contains 26% more mannose than original Ambrotose® complex, and 70% more mannose than the original Advanced Ambrotose™. Galactose content in the new formulation is 10% higher than in original Ambrotose® complex, and 170% higher than in the original Advanced Ambrotose™. These increases are due to the addition of arabinogalactan. Fucose content is 32% higher than in original Ambrotose® complex. Fucose levels in new Advanced Ambrotose™ are very similar to those in the original version of Advanced Ambrotose™, but the purity of this fucose is now much higher and will reduce taste and odor complications previously experienced by some consumers.

How will I know I am receiving the new, improved version of Advanced Ambrotose™?
New and Improved Advanced Ambrotose™ has a red starburst on the label, which distinguishes it from original Advanced Ambrotose™.

What is the Consumer Evaluation Panel, and what role did it play in the testing of the new Advanced Ambrotose™ reformulation process?
The Consumer Evaluation Panel is one aspect of a new initiative within R&D to ensure that all products pass consumer testing before they are released into the market. A select group of our consumers will be invited each year to participate in these product tests and surveys. Selected panelists will receive products and then complete surveys to provide R&D with valuable feedback. The results from the new Advanced Ambrotose™ Consumer Evaluation Panel were exceptional. The vast majority of participants rated the product as “excellent” overall and as an “excellent value.” The Consumer Evaluation Panel is an additional step Mannatech now uses to ensure consumer confidence as we continue developing the best products possible.

Has Advanced Ambrotose™ been tested for safety?
Mannatech contracted an independent lab to perform an acute toxicity test on the new formulation to help assure safety of the product. The results of that test showed that Advanced Ambrotose™ was safe at the highest level for the test, 5,000mg per kg body weight. Results have shown that higher levels of Advance Ambrotose™ are safe to consume.

Can people with major health challenges take New and Improved Advanced Ambrotose™?
Anyone, regardless of their state of health, can benefit from improved nutrition. There are no special concerns among people with major health challenges that should keep them from taking the product.

Do our products contain any animal ingredients?
Yes, some of our products do contain animal ingredients as there are many difficulties associated with producing vegetable-only products. Our products which contain animal ingredients are Ambrotose SPORT capsules (which contain orchic substances); FIRM with Ambrotose lotion and AmbroDerm lotion (which contain emu oil); and Ambrotose® Classic powder (which contains glucosamine HCl of seafood origin). The glucosamine HCl in New & Improved Advanced Ambrotose™ powder is of vegetable origin. The gelcaps used for Ambrotose AO™ capsules are vegetable-based, but the gelatin used in our other capsule products is of bovine origin.
